Image Upscale

Image Upscale makes a picture two or four times bigger and adds sharp detail. It runs on your own device, so nothing is uploaded, and it is free.

Upscale an image

  1. Open Image Upscale from the sidebar.
  2. Drop in a picture. JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
  3. Pick the quality and the size. The page shows how big the result will be.
  4. Press Upscale. Watch the progress as it works.
  5. Drag the slider to compare, then press Download.

Settings

  • Standard is fast and light (picked to start). HD gives crisper detail but is slower. The first HD run downloads a 34 MB file once, then it is saved on your device.
  • 2× is sharp and fast (picked to start). 4× gives the most detail and needs you to sign in.

  • Very large pictures are made smaller first (2048 pixels on the long side, or 1024 on devices with little memory). The page tells you when this happens.
  • On devices without a fast graphics chip, it runs in a slower mode and tells you so.

Download options

  • Choose Compressed (full size, smaller file, picked to start) or Original (full size, best quality).
  • Pick a format: WebP (to start), JPEG, PNG or AVIF. For Compressed, set the quality (75% to start).
  • You can name the file. The size of the picture is never reduced when you download.
